Overview
Home built in 1953. Keeping with some original 4 x 4 tiles in the bathroom, limestone tiles on the main floor and existing walnut kitchen cabinets, I updated the rest of the home for today's styles. Total gut renovation in the basement several years later.

Project Details

Taking an existing basement that was in much need of total renovation to a new level of an extension of this beautiful home for entertaining.

With a half bath in the basement, I created a full Spa like bathroom.  Adding a deep  whirlpool tub and steam for my clients to relax while using the Color Chromatic lights taking a bath or steam.

With one wall being tiled with natural stones to create that outdoor feeling.  I then designed a vanity made from a Plyboo panel, topping it it with a green recycled glass and acrylic top, under the counter lights to create the soft lighting.  Flooring and walls were 12″ x 24″ porcelain tiles.  The open storage area for towels and supplies was also made from the Plyboo Panel.  A custom 3 panel door housing mirrored blue acrylic matching the blue in the vanity countertop.

Outside the bathroom I created a entertaining bar area, game and large screen TV area.  The porcelain tiles extended from the bathroom to the bar area.  The entire wetbar was also custom made to my specifications out of Plyboo panels, housing an 18″ dishwasher, under the counter refrigerator and wine refrigerator.  The countertop was made from granite.  The wall in front of the wet bar housed a wall unit of sentimental value, designed and built by my clients father.

The rest of the basement flooring was a 18″ x 18″ carpet-tile.  Easy to replace tiles if need be.  in one section of the basement a large pull down screen was installed to watch movies and TV from a projector.  This section was panelled with Plyboo panels. The other section was for game tables.  A small round table for playing cards.  The existing sofa and chairs were slipped covered with material to match the new color palette.  The existing stairs to the basement were replaced and stained a wood color to match the Plyboo panels.  Under the stairs and storage area was created for board games, videos and supplies.
